With nearly 50 years of grape growing experience, Nectar is proud to welcome Airfield Estate winery as our September featured winery of the month.

The history of the Airfield Estates family dates back to 1907 when H. Lloyd Miller pioneered in the Sunnyside area. H. Lloyd’s work was instrumental in getting the area irrigation rights and in the 1920’s the property that is now the estate vineyard was purchased. The property became an airfield for the Army Air Corps pilots in WWII. Shorty after the war the property became Airfield Ranch with cattle, hogs, alfalfa, asparagus and more.

The family started shifting to grape growing in  1967 with their first commercial vintage in 1971. Mike Miller joined the family farm in 1974. He became highly involved in wine grape production and transitioned the farm into what it is today – 830 acres of wine grapes and 350 acres of Concord juice grapes. Airfield sold wine grapes exclusively to other wineries until 2005 when Mike founded Airfield Estates Winery.

Now a 4th generation winery with Marcus Miller and his sister Lori leading the charge. Airfield Estates produces wines that over deliver for the price. If you get a chance please visit their tasting rooms in Prosser and in Woodinville.

The estate vineyard is located in the Yakima Valley nestled up against the foothills of the Rattlesnake Hills AVA and boasts 20 grape varieties on over 830 acres of land. Each Airfield wine is made with 100% estate fruit produced to showcase the geography and subtle characteristics of the wine.
