A Gilbert has been farming in the Yakima Valley for nearly 120 years. Great grandfather Curtiss Richey Gilbert  farmed in the area and enjoyed hiking in the Goat Rocks area of the cascades. When he passed away in 1947 Supreme Court Justice officially dedicated the highest peak in the range (8150ft) as Gilbert Peak. The Gilbert Cellars label pays tribute to five generations of legacy.

The family winery began in 2004 and continues today with terroir focused wines from the Yakima Valley.  Wine maker  Justin Neufeld honed his skills at Chateau St Michelle, Silver Lake and Glen Fiona before taking over at Gilbert Cellars in 2007. Justin also makes amazing Cabernet under his label Neufeld Cellars.

You are sure to find a favorite among the Gilbert family of wines. When you are in the Yakima area, be sure to stop by their tasting room too!

First Friday, August 3 we welcome Gilbert Cellars as our featured winery of the month. Six wines will be on the bar for tasting, glass pours and bottle purchases. To kick off the month we have a new art installation from Katrina Brennan and music with Jamison Sampson.

“We are a small family winery in Yakima, WA. We are crazy about the handcrafts true-to-varietal Washington wines we produce. We love the way wine evokes community, hospitality, and beauty. “
